Cali’s first stuffy

The first time I came home with my mom, Becky, I was nervous and a little scared. I had just left my siblings and the only place I knew as home, and I wasn’t sure what to expect.

But as soon as we stepped inside our huge new house, I knew I was going to be okay. My mom had set up a comfy little bed for me in the corner, complete with a soft blanket and a few toys to play with.

And then she surprised me with a brand new stuffy – it was a little dog, just like me, with soft fur and a cute little tail. But what made this stuffy extra special was that it had a simulated heartbeat inside.

My mom explained that the simulated heartbeat was supposed to make me feel safe and comforted, like I was still with my siblings. And you know what? She was right.

I cuddled up with my new stuffy and felt the comforting rhythm of its heartbeat against my chest. It made me feel like I wasn’t alone, like I had someone to snuggle up with and keep me company.

As the days and weeks went by, my stuffy became my constant companion. I carried it around with me everywhere I went, and it always made me feel safe and happy.

Looking back on that first day, I’m so grateful to my mom for giving me such a wonderful home and such a special friend. Even though I was a little scared at first, she made me feel right at home and helped me adjust to my new life.

Now, I can’t imagine life without my mom and my trusty stuffy by my side. They both make me feel safe, loved, and happy – and that’s all I could ever ask for.
